New amendments to the Croatian Citizenship Act extended the deadline for submitting applications for Croatian citizenship for persons over 21 years of age who were born abroad and whose one parent was a Croatian citizen at the time of their birth. These persons may submit an application for entry in the register of Croatian citizens to the competent embassy or consular office no later than 1.1.2023.

On this basis, the applicant for Croatian citizenship must prove that they respect the legal order of the Republic of Croatia, that thay have paid all due public contributions and that there are no security obstacles to their acquiring of Croatian citizenship. Before initiating this procedure, it is also necessary to record changes of parents' personal data in Croatian registry offices.
